2021 SHRM Volunteer Leaders' Business Meeting (VLBM)

  • 11 Nov 2021
  • 13 Nov 2021
  • Gaylord National Harbor, 165 Waterfront Street National Harbor, MD 20745

Through your dedication as a volunteer leader, we are elevating HR day in and day out – particularly during these times of challenge and change. To stay ahead of today’s evolving workplace and the impact of global issues, we look forward to sharing the 2022 SHRM Business Strategy with you during this year’s Volunteer Leaders’ Business Meeting (VLBM), to be held November 11 - 13, 2021, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, MD.

As a Volunteer Leader with SHRM, you are exclusively invited to join our three-day program. The VLBM provides an opportunity for us to connect, to dive deeply into strategy, to share best practices, and to unite to lead the profession in 2022 and beyond.

  • The annual business meeting officially opens on Thursday, November 11 at 9:00 am EDT for state council directors and directors-elect and 1:00 pm for all other in person attendees.
  • The 3-day business program will provide you with strategic content focused on how you can “Partner. Adapt. Lead.” in your volunteer leadership role.
  • There will be in-person and interactive networking opportunities with a wide network of volunteer leaders.
KEY OBJECTIVES
  • Receive key concurrent session content on how we will partner on important issues at the local, regional, national, and global levels, how to adapt to this new normal as we chart the course for the future of SHRM and the HR profession, and how you, as a Volunteer Leader, can align these objectives– to lead the way.
  • Celebrate successes from 2021. You’ve worked through unprecedented challenges this year and SHRM recognizes your outstanding efforts as a valued Volunteer Leader.
  • Learn about SHRM’s 2022 strategy and business goals to drive membership engagement and retention for chapters and SHRM.
  • Develop new tools to foster your outreach to various audiences (emerging professionals, enterprise members and people managers) and learn about new HR Solution offerings from SHRM (metered products/credentials).
  • Serve as ambassadors to promote SHRM as a thought leader, trusted partner and resource for HR leaders and workplace influencers.
  • Enhance your engagement with SHRM through advocacy and as the voice of SHRM and HR in local communities.
  • Have a workplace challenge? SHRM is your solution! Meet with SHRM staff leaders from various departments (Marketing, Certification, Government Affairs, etc.) in the “SHRM Affiliate Solution Center” who will share their insight and expertise. Take advantage of this opportunity throughout the conference.
  • Celebrate your contributions as a Volunteer Leader with SHRM! And collectively celebrate successes from the past year, particularly through the SHRM Pinnacle Awards.
