Conquering Communication Challenges Within A Global Organization

Communicating with HR stakeholders can sometimes be a challenge within an organization. The two words ‘information’ and ‘communication’ are often used interchangeably, but they signify different things – Information is giving out; communication is getting through.Whether you’re launching a new corporate initiative, changing a policy, or just answering a question, it can be difficult to gain an employee’s understanding. It’s often tough just to get their attention. When the communication takes place in an international setting, the added influences of language, culture, and time zone differences make it even more difficult to get the message across. The June TCSHRM International Special Interest Group meeting will focus on this challenge.

General Mills is working on innovative ways to share information within their organization as it relates to global assignments and will discuss what they’ve learned and how it has changed the way communication takes place within the company. We’ll also have a panel of individuals representing other Twin Cities companies to offer their reactions to the General Mills ideas and add their experiences to the discussion.Of course, there will be plenty of time for networking and input from attendees.
