Minnesota will be the 13th state to launch a statewide Paid Leave program in 2026. It provides paid time off when a serious health condition prevents you from working, when you need time to care for a family member or a new child, for certain military-related events or for certain personal safety issues. Employers can choose to meet their responsibilities under Minnesota Paid Leave by providing employees an equivalent plan that meets or exceeds the coverage offered by the state. Attendees will hear directly from the agency charged with implementing and overseeing the Paid Leave program and will have the chance to ask questions specific to their business situation.
Over the last two Minnesota legislative sessions a series of labor laws were passed and amended. Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) is one of those laws and impacts every employer and employee in the state. This presentation will provide an overview of the ESST law and highlight the 2024 legislative amendments and what they mean for employers. Attendees will hear directly from the agency charged with implementing, overseeing and enforcing ESST and will have the chance to ask questions specific to their business situation. The presentation will also cover ESST rulemaking and briefly cover other important wage and hour law updates in Minnesota.
