LAHRA - Examining an Employer’s Legal Duty to Accommodate Based on Religious Beliefs and Practices
Religious discrimination claims are on the rise, and Minnesota’s increasingly diverse population presents new challenges for employers who must balance legal compliance against business efficiency. This session will examine the current legal landscape around an employer’s duty to accommodate employees’ religious beliefs and practices, including what constitutes religious discrimination and practical recommendations for religious accommodations in the workplace.
Kerry Middleton has extensive litigation experience in federal and state courts nationwide. He has successfully represented employers in virtually every type of employment claim including: discrimination, harassment, whistleblower, retaliation, breach of contract, workplace torts, non-compete agreements, trade secret disputes, and wage and hour litigation. Kerry has defended his clients in administrative proceedings before the EEOC, the DOL, and state and local human rights agencies. He also provides advice and training to help employers avoid litigation. Kerry has published and lectured on a variety of employment law topics and has been recognized as one of the “Top 40 Minnesota Employment Litigators.”
