    The SHAPE year-end report is a checklist of 12 items in two parts. Completing all items in Section 1 is required of all Chapters to remain in "good standing." Section 2 is optional however, all items in Section 1 and Section 2 must be completed to qualify for an Excel Award. If you have completed Sections I and II of the 2019 Chapter or State Council SHAPE report, you have the option to apply for an Excel Award. We are now accepting applications for Excel Awards, and the deadline has been extended to April 15, 2020 (previously March 15, 2020). 

    Note: Your Excel Award application may be submitted following successful submission of both Section I and II in SHAPE. Updates have been made to the 2020 workbooks, reflecting affiliate activities and initiatives undertaken in 2020; 2020 Chapter and State Council SHAPE workbooks reflecting these changes are coming soon.

    EXTENDED: Student Chapter Merit Award and Student Chapter Advisor Impact Award Application New Deadline: April 30, 2020.

    To be eligible for a Student Merit Award, all Chapters must complete all items in Section 1 and 2A of the planning workbook, complete the minimum number of activities designated for the award sought in 2B of the planning workbook and submit a year-end report by April 30, 2020 (previously April 15, 2020). For additional details, please visit the VLRC.

    In addition, the Student Chapter Advisor Impact Award deadline has been extended to April 30, 2020.

    The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act) requires certain employers to provide employees with paid sick or family leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. The Department of Labor’s (Department) Wage and Hour Division (WHD) administers and enforces the new law’s paid leave requirements. These provisions will apply from the effective date through December 31, 2020. Read more.

    As the U.S. and the world contend with the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), on behalf of the entire SHRM team, I send heartfelt thoughts to all those affected around the globe and in the HR community.
