TCSHRM - Volunteer Event at Junior Achievement's Biztown
We have an exciting opportunity to volunteer with our workforce readiness partner, Junior Achievement (JA).
About Junior Achievement & BizTown:
JA Is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their futures, and make smart academic and economic choices. JA’s programs, in their core content areas of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy, ignite the spark in young people to experience and realize the opportunities and realities of work and life in the 21st century.
JA offers a variety of ways to volunteer with their organization. One of those ways is through BizTown. BizTown combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a simulated town. This popular program allows elementary school students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks and vote for mayor. The program helps students connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world (grades 4-6).
Volunteering is a great way to give back to the communities in which we live and work, to impact future generations and to get to know your mentor/mentee better. See additional details below:
What: Junior Achievement BizTown
When: Monday, October 29
Time: 8:15am to 1:45pm (volunteers are required to be available for the entire timeframe)
Location: 1800 White Bear Avenue North, Maplewood, MN 55109
Who are the students: 5th graders from Heritage Middle School - West St. Paul (95 students)
A few days prior to the event, volunteers will receive an email from JA with specific details in preparation for the day. In the meantime, questions can be directed to info@tcshrm.org
