Action Needed on House File 2062

13 Feb 2022 7:02 AM | Christine Strak (Administrator)

I am writing to you today because the democrat led Minnesota House of Representatives will be addressing House File 2062 which can be accessed here.

This law would increase some flexibility into the MN Wage Theft Act including allowing more time for the form to be completed (you would have up to the first pay date instead of needing to be completed before work commences).  It would also explicitly allow you to serve the document electronically.  More importantly, you would be able to provide a salary range for the position instead of a specific dollar figure.

The link above will show you the details of what would be changed.  Underlined words would be added to the law and strikethroughs indicate parts that would be removed.

The House Labor Committee will be discussing that bill on Wednesday 2/16 at 3pm.  I invite you to sign up to testify via Zoom in support of the bill.  There is no guarantee there will be time for everyone but you should sign up anyway and be prepared to discuss how this bill would be benefit you, your organization, and your employees.  Remember to speak in terms of your personal experience and how it would affect you - not just theoretically but practically!

Feel free to share this with your members as well.  We want the MN House to hear MN SHRM members!!!!

For additional information, contact the MNSHRM Legislative Director, Justin Terch.
